GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 463320
Trial Balance Report: Does not add up correctly
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:44:50 UTC
I've done some further investigation with regards to the trial balance being out of balance. I've entered the transactions in a separate file to drill down on the problem and make it easier to troubleshoot. My trial balance shows the following: [Price source=Most recent] dr cr Checking Account 47,890.00 Verasun [Stock] 2,600.00 Capital gains 300.00 Commission 10.00 Opening Balance 50,000.00 Unrealized Gains Totals 50,500.00 50,650.00 The credit column shows a total of 50,650.00 but only displays credits of 50,300.00. The actual unrealized gains are 200.00 yet none appear. Even if the unrealized gains of 200.00 did appear the balance would still be off by 150.00. I've attached the actual GnuCash file so that you can load it to take a look at it.
Created attachment 93075 [details] Gnucash test file This is my actual Gnucash test file that shows the trial balance report problem
I've updated Gnucash to version 2.2.1 on SUSE 10.2 and this bug is still present.
I had a look at your test file. The trial balance report is figuring unrealized capital gains incorrectly. There is a thread going about this right now on the mailing list.
There were two problems: a broken unrealized gain/loss calculation, and an unrelated display bug (always blank in the credit column). Committed a fix for both as r17339. Requesting backport for 2.2.
Applied to branches/2.2 as r17389 for inclusion in GnuCash 2.2.6. Thanks!
