Description eskil heyn olsen 2001-09-10 00:58:07 UTC
If you "Show Properties" for two differing directories, the first one begins to
cound items and size. The second does not begin untill the first is done.

(and meanwhile, the property window flicker as does the sidebar in some cases)

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-02-01 15:34:14 ----

There should be no sidebar flicker. I'd like to see an example of that.

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-02-01 15:46:25 ----

The only flicker that should occur when the number is counting up is the
"contents" line (that shows the number counting up, and maybe "some
contents unreadable"). Any other flickering is a surprising bug.

The "take turns" behavior seems to be based in the way the
NautilusDirectory async machinery chooses what to do next. Therefore, I
am blessing Darin with this bug.

------- Additional Comments From eskil@eskil.dk 2001-02-01 18:55:37 ----

I have two flickercases:
A:
1) The properties window is doing the counting
2) switch to tab "Emblems"
3) the scrollbar and icons flicker

B:
1) the property window is doing the counting on /usr
2) navigate into /usr
3) in the sidebar, the "usr" label and the emblem flickers.

------- Additional Comments From eskil@eskil.dk 2001-02-01 18:59:57 ----

build from HEAD doesn't seem to have Flicker Case B.

------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-02-01 23:32:15 ----

John, maybe we should have 2 separate bug reports, one for the flicker and one for the
other problem.

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-02-02 07:43:35 ----

I split off the flickering bug into bug 46248.

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
Comment 2 Ben FrantzDale 2002-07-18 00:45:46 UTC
This happens still in gnome2.
Comment 3 Kjartan Maraas 2003-10-28 20:33:45 UTC
It doesn't show two dialogs any longer. If I try to open a second the
first one is shown. Closing based on this.
