Description Darin Adler 2001-09-10 01:00:53 UTC
We have a number of specific bugs caused by this fundamental problem. The two
best solutions are probably to either use "sniffing" to check modification dates
and merge changes, or to use some kind of metadata server process, which could
either be Nautilus itself or a separate process.

------- Additional Comments From engber@eazel.com 2001-02-12 17:28:43 ----

I changed this so that all writes/reads go through one process. This fixed most
of the easily visible issues. There's still the problem of change notification
happening across processes - I filed a separate bug for that.
