GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 458828
what is the "Top Posting Option"?
Last modified: 2010-04-02 13:30:26 UTC
Top Posting Option (Not Recommended) what does it mean? answering above the quoted message (everybody's doing this already, so i have no idea what this option would change)? i have no idea...
Good question. CC'ing myself.
at least add a translator comment to this.
Top posting is when you reply above an original e-mail, instead of interleaving comments, a bit like this Subject: Re: vampire bats From: igor@example.com I agree. -- igor@example.com http://www.example.com/%7Eigor/ Dracula <vlad@example.com> wrote: > All vampire bats should be given free sheep to feed on. Top posting can violate the natural way in which people read postings, in a question / answer (or comment) setting, you don't answer someone's question before they ask it. See perhaps http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/2000/06/14/quoting.html for more info
Stephan: I nowadays know what Top Posting is. But if you don't know that special term, you cannot translate it properly. And this is what this bug is about :)
My mistake, for some reason, the bug was showing up as "new" with a relatively recent date (January 2008, if I recall correctly). Sorry.
Bumping version to a stable release.
I added a lame translator comment there. Do you have better? Give it to me or post to sources, I'm fine with both. Created commit 1dbb706 in evo master (2.31.1+)
