GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 457841
GnuCash crashs on startup on Windows XP: "Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting" though running as admin
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:43:17 UTC
GnuCash 2.2.0 running on WindowsXP (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300: Service Pack 2) as administrator fails to start. When I start, an error message is displayed: "Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting". After that, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library tells me: "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\GnuCash\bin\gnucash-bin.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact this application's support team for more information." This error occures every time I try to start GnuCash. Reinstalling the application or installing it into another location don't solve the problem. I also killed gconf and deleted "C:\Documents and Settings\$user\Local Settings\gconfd-$user\lock\ior", still crashes. This crash does not occur on my mobile PC, though it is configured exactly as my desktop PC. Below are the contents of all GnuCash-related files under "C:\Documents and Settings\$user\" .gconf\ (empty folder) .gconfd\ .gconfd\saved-state (empty file) .gnome2\ .gnome2\accels\ (empty folder) .gnome2_private\ (empty folder) .gnucash\ .gnucash\books\ (empty folder) .gnucash\checks\ (empty folder) And below are the contents of all related items under "C:\Documents and Settings\$user\Local Settings\Temp" gconfd-$user\ gconfd-$user\lock\ gconfd-$user\lock\ior 512:IOR:010000001600000049444c3a436f6e666967536572766572323a312e30000000010000000100000024000000010000000100000001000000140000000100000001000105000000000901010000000000 orbit-$user\ (empty folder) gnucash.trace.EQACVT * OTHER <> file corba-object.c: line 76 (ORBit_register_objref): assertion failed: (obj->object_key != NULL) I hope I presented all information you need, if not, feel free to ask.
