Description taska 2001-09-10 00:53:39 UTC
When you set the Nautilus desktop background it doesn't set the Gnome desktop
background. When you set other windows to "transparent", you see the old Gnome
desktop background, not Nautilus's desktop background.

* REPRODUCIBLE: Always

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Set Nautilus to seize the desktop, and then change the desktop background. Then
open up an xterm window (or something else) and set its background to
transparent.

* ACTUAL RESULTS:

 You will see the old Gnome background.

* EXPECTED RESULTS:

  You should see the new Nautilus background.

Umm...Taska, are you still using PR2? I'm pretty sure this is long-since fixed.
(I recall verifying a bug just like this several days ago.)

Mike, I know you've done a lot of work to make these two backgrounds similar and

perhaps you can explain the limitations of what we've done.

Also, I changed the summary to what I think is the real bug here.

I just realized this could just be something transcribed from Nautilus feedback that
was long ago fixed, as Eli says.

Oh! I didn't even know they were supposed to show icons when I verified the
other bug!

THe bug I was thinking of was 1675, ("Windows with "transparency" see the Gnome
desktop, not ours.")

------- Additional Comments From engber@eazel.com 2001-01-03 17:51:29 ----

The background pattern (image and/or color) should appear to show through in
transparent apps. However, the icons will not show through. Showing the icons
was never envisioned as far as I know (the gnome desktop icons don't show
through either).

------- Additional Comments From engber@eazel.com 2001-01-05 16:00:28 ----

I got an email from Hassan, and he says it's not a problem
between Nautilus and the background capplet as he intially
reported. He was using another background program, Chbg
(http://www.idata.sk/~ondrej/chbg/)
