GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 448137
Add an option Delete file from disk
Last modified: 2012-08-13 14:22:37 UTC
Please add an option for physically deleting a music file from disk without having to move it to trash. You can place that option below the option "Move to trash", i. e.: "Delete from disk" With this option there should be a confirmation dialog if you really want to physically remove the music file from disk. Thanks!
that idea doesn't seem consistant with GNOME behaviour which actually has a trash for deleted files
Problem is that it does not work with trash if you have inserted an external USB hard disk. In that case a song gets deleted from playlist but is not (!) moved into trash. I think there is a bug posted about that behaviour. That's why it would be easier to add an option to physically delete a file without using a trash.
I'll second the opinion that it should be possible to delete files from my music player from Rhythmbox. If it's deemed ungnomey to do that, at least add an option within Rhythbox to empty the trash. Even better, when the user tries to move stuff to a music player and it doesn't have space for the files, Rhythmbox should offer to empty the trash if it has any files in it.
