GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 44160
Mozilla suddenly stops loading web pages from URLs or services
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I've had this happen in two cases: 1) First time I launch Nautilus, and go to Services, I'll click on a "Go There!" button for SoftCat, or "More Info" for one of the featured packages at the bottom of the summary, and the throbber will keep spinning, nothing is spit out to the terminal, and Nautilus doesn't do anything. 2) I'll launch Nautilus, browse to a web page, play with Services (including catalog pages) for a little while, and then all of a sudden, I'll go back to the Services Summary page, click on "Go There" for the software catalog, "More Info" for a featured package, or type in a URL, and the throbber keeps going and nothing is happening in the terminal or Nautilus This is off the 6pm, Sat, Oct 28th build. ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-10-30 08:50:06 ---- Duplicate of bug 44169? ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-10-30 10:52:17 ---- Darin and I are working on bug 44169, which I suspect is the same as this one. The problem we are seeing is gnome-vfs jobs not being cancelled correctly, which is causing some code in nautilus-directory-async to refuse to process any further ones. ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-10-30 11:50:00 ---- I still think this is probably the same as bug 44169. Darin and I figured that one out, though Darin still has to implement a fix. When that one is marked FIXED, someone should play around with the scenario here to see if the problem seems to be gone. ------- Additional Comments From ramiro@fateware.com 2000-10-30 13:43:39 ---- Waiting for 4168. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-30 21:30:55 ---- bneely and I have been seeing a different problem while testing the default bookmarks --- some web pages just _don't_ load. For an example, see "News and Media" | "BeOpen". bneely saw this on many other pages (CC:ing). ramiro, I can report a separate bug, but am noting here, since Darin thought other bugs related to this were in fact a duplicate, and this bug is a PR2 blocker. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-30 21:31:57 ---- cc:ing bneely in case he has $.02 to add. ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-10-31 11:20:17 ---- This bug is getting too confusing. Individual issues with specific web pages that don't work are now all written up as separate bugs. This bug represents the quasi-reproducible problem of navigation failing when using services. Since I strongly believe this quasi-reproducible problem was bug 44169, now fixed, I'm marking this one FIXED. Please verify away. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-31 11:22:21 ---- QA Assigning to Albert for verification of services-specific issue. ------- Additional Comments From albert@eazel.com 2000-11-01 10:19:12 ---- This bug fix has been verified on the services side on today's build. QA assigning this to Eli for client side verification. ------- Additional Comments From bfrank@eazel.com 2000-11-04 16:04:12 ---- Services web pages and basic web pages are now able to be browsed by Nautilus (Friday, November 3rd build). Marking verified. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 20:44 ------- Bug depends on bug(s) 44169. The original reporter (bfrank@eazel.com) of this bug does not have an account here. Reassigning to the exporter, unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org.
