Description John Pye 2007-05-20 05:05:19 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Using the text tool ('T') on Dia doesn't is fairly basic; obviously not one of the things that at this stage you have put too much focus on. But just in case, these comments:

* can't use delete key
* can't use shift+arrows to select parts of the entered text for cut/paste
* can't paste text from Gedit
* can't paste text using middle mouse button
* can't highlight text using mouse

Does this happen every time?

You can paste text with the "Paste Text" menu entry under edit. But yes, it is due for an overhaul, it is one of the things I *hope* to get done for the next version.

FWIW on this particular case, I expected to see a right-click menu option. And I expected to use the ctrl-V or middle-click action.

If there were some way that the text editing component could be replaced by a standard widget then you would get a lot of this stuff for free. I wonder how Inkscape and Gaphor do it?
