GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 439799
Volume widget needs stock icons in gtk+
Last modified: 2013-02-11 05:45:09 UTC
The volume widget (from bug 415775) needs volume icons to be added to gtk+ itself, and the names to be changed in its source code as well. Jakub, got some Tango icons to add there?
The volume levels have been created for both tango icon theme (CC BY SA) and gnome icon theme (GPL). Are you asking for creating yet another set for gtk+ (LGPL?) :/
Wouldn't it be possible to relicense the existing icons?
The possibility may be there, I believe the authoris lapo Calamandrei. But is it necessary to have those in gtk+ as opposed to icon themes? The naming is defined in the icon naming spec - http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html
if the icons are used by widgets inside GTK+, I think it would be a good idea to have some version of them in the builtin icons. Of course, normally you'll get the icons from the icon theme.
We do have some version of the audio-volume-* icons builtin to gtk now.
