Description Mike Pedersen 2007-05-16 18:18:44 UTC
1. open thunderbird and open the contact list
2. In the tree of address books select one that contains several contacts.
3. Tab to the list of contacts
4. arrow up and down through the list
You will notice that you hear nothing and nothing useful is presented on the braille display. This worked as of about two weeks ago.

And the winner for "Thunderbird build most likely to succeed in breaking functionality" is....

... 13th April! Appropriately enough, that day was a Friday. Prior to that build, we have no problem accessing the list of contacts or, arguably more significant, the list of messages. From 13th April to the present Thunderbird build, we are not speaking or brailling either. :-( Now to try to figure out what they've done....

It turns out that they fixed it late April/early May and subsequently re-broke it. It's working from 1st May - 8th May, broken again the 9th. That was the same time the Mozilla a11y guys were making major fixes. So if you need your contact list in the meantime Mike, that's a more recent set of builds for you to choose from. Back to investigating....

"What they've done" is completely break the accessible hierarchy for tree tables. Where we used to find ROLE_TABLE_CELL, we now find ROLE_UNKNOWN. All of the information we're trying to speak and braille has up and vanished. :-(

Here's the Mozilla bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380976
We're blocked.

The Mozilla folks have marked this bug as fixed. Can we close this bug?

Another one I forgot about. Thanks for the ping.
