GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 437653
Cannot create a new file in Gedit by double clicking the tab bar
Last modified: 2020-11-24 09:59:19 UTC
When someone double clicks on the empty area in the tab bar, then a new file should be created. This is more consistent with Firefox 1.5 behaviour. Other information: Bug #113337, first reported on 2007-05-08 by agro1986, originally in launchpad.net [https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/113337]
Firefox is not part of gnome and don't follow the HIG in many points (use of ctrl+tab, unexpected behaviours, etc). It is *very* unlikely we fix this one this way.

Created attachment 141701 [details] [review] new tab on click This could be a possible patch for it. It adds a new key to gconf set to FALSE by default. I think the gconf schema descriptions can be improved. Anyway I was just playing a bit with the concept, no need to apply the patch if you don't want.
Mass-closing of all gedit bugzilla tickets. Special "code" to find again all those gedit bugzilla tickets that were open before the mass-closing: 2bfe1b0590a78457e1f1a6a90fb975f5878cb60064ccfe1d7db76ca0da52f0f3 By searching the above sha256sum in bugzilla, the gedit contributors can find again the tickets. We may be interested to do so when we work on a specific area of the code, to at least know the known problems and possible enhancements. We do this mass-closing because bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org.
