What were you doing when the application crashed?
I pasted the search below into the Help accessed via the help button in the Software Updates application. Once I hit enter to begin the search it began to return results and that is when this bug reporting tool was launched. I tried it twice to be sure that was the cause and it failed both times after hitting enter.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade.
