Description Markus Bertheau 2007-05-07 08:44:53 UTC
Steps:
 1. have a window A maximized and another window B not maximized. Move B in the upper corner. Activate B so that it is above A.
 2. throw the mouse in the upper right corner and left click

Actual behaviour:
 window A is closed

Expected behaviour:
 window B is closed

i.e. extend the area of windows so that it includes the corner pixel not only for maximized windows but also for windows two edges of which are adjacent with two of the screen borders
Comment 1 Markus Bertheau 2007-05-07 08:45:54 UTC
I meant "move B in the upper *right* corner".
Comment 2 Bruno Boaventura 2007-05-15 18:12:01 UTC
Does it happen with "no rounded corners" theme?
Comment 3 Markus Bertheau 2007-05-15 18:19:28 UTC
No, with a square corners theme I get the resize cursor.

Comment 5 Gary Birkett 2010-08-25 16:49:05 UTC
I can confirm this bug and it effects me quite often during the day.
It appears to be related to the Double clicking of the title bar and how the second ButtonRelease event is handled.

Steps to reproduce:

Open a window which is not maximised and then double click its titlebar to maximise it.
Open a second window which is already maximised (I use browser in the example).
Click Close button on the top Browser window.

Expected outcome:
Browser window should close.

Actual outcome:
The window behind is closed.

I made some notes which includes links to videos showing the bug in action.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you can still reproduce this issue in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
