Description Benjamin 2007-05-06 04:13:27 UTC
I am planning a house move for my family, and thought I would give planner a try. One of the usability hurdles I hit was in trying to set my working hours for the next two weeks. I created a custom calendar for myself, but setting the days meant I had to click each day individually -and- hit apply each time. I think the interface would be easier to use if I could select a run of days at a time, and didn't have to press apply after making the switch from working to non-working or vice versa. I imagine someone trying to keep track of holiday time for individual staff would also hit this problem.

I also wonder about whether it might be a good idea to effectively assign a calendar to every work resource automatically. I don't use planner in business, but in my business it is normal for different people to want to take different holiday time. It might be nice if the management of calendars reflected the fact that different users have different calendars, though they might still derive from a base calendar. My picture of how this might work is that a calendar editor dialogue be built into the user resource editing. It would allow edit only of this particular user's calendar, including which base calendar it derives from. The existing calendar editor would be retained, but would not show per-user calendars in the list of calendars for edit.

Benjamin.
