Description severedcross+bugzilla 2007-04-27 04:14:31 UTC
Some sort of "queue" type functionality in Banshee would be very nice.

After some discussion on the IRC channel, the following ideas were thrown around as a method to implement such functionality:

- Call it the "Play Bin"
- Put it in the sidebar as a Playlist item that the user can edit but not remove.
- Playback model would work as follows:

      - Banshee reaches the end of the track, then checks the "Play Bin."
      - If the "Play Bin" is empty, Banshee keeps on as usual-- we either play from the library or stop, whatever happens to be the correct action.
      - If the "Play Bin" has a track, play it, and pop it off the "Play Bin" playlist so we don't end up in an infinite loop of that track.

- You can either a) drag songs from the library into the queue (this wouldn't require any additional work), b) press a keyboard shortcut to queue the track (Q?) and maybe even c) have a context menu item to add a song to the queue.

I'm filing this under UI and enhancement--I don't know if it should be gnome-love, since I haven't really looked at what changes would have to be made to make this work.

I'm willing to work on this and could get started as early as this weekend.
