GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 432040
Support for "Compilation CDs"
Last modified: 2008-06-19 16:56:48 UTC
Often one has CDs with different artists and often each artist has just one song on the CD. Actually all of the artists have their own folder and such in the structure. I think there should be a way to mark a CD as compilation (as it is possible in iTunes). I would suggest to save the files then in ~/Music/ALBUMNAME instead of ~/Music/EverySingleArtist/ALBUMBNAME. This would be also good for #410660 that the "list" doesn't blow up.
The way iTunes handles the Compilation CD stuff is by putting a folder in the "Library Folder" called "Compilations" and then a folder with the album title holds the tracks. So you have something like the follow: "MyMusicLibrary/Compilations/Hackers Soundtrack/" "MyMusicLibrary/Compilations/Hackers Soundtrack/02 Cowgirl.mp3" I agree though that Banshee needs to support Compilations, especially when the browser gets added in.
Created attachment 111187 [details] banshee album browser screenshot of album browser with an compilation.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This particular bug has been reported (more recently, bug 517671) into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 517671 ***
Not to get too picky, but since this bug was reported first, would but 517671 be a duplicate of this one? Either way the issues has apparently been resolved, so this is probably moot now. But I think it is important to consider time submitted when determining which bug is a duplicate of which.
