GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 431380
Ability to resize with alt+right click
Last modified: 2008-03-01 01:37:02 UTC
Please allow an option to resize with alt+right click instead of alt+middle. This could be implemented as an option to reverse functionality of alt+middle and alt+right. (So then alt+middle would bring up the menu for instance.) Other information: I hacked metacity to reverse these myself, but I don't want to have to patch it every time after an upgrade. If I had patched this in a configurable way, I would have included the patch here, but I'm not familiar with gconf or metacity configuration. I don't care if this option is available from the normal preference programs. If I have to use gconf-editor, that's fine with me. Thanks, this is a very important usability issue for me, and I've seen others mention it too.
Yes, metacity makes it very uncomfortable to resize windows on my laptop. With my left hand, I have to put my middle finger on alt, then simultaneously depress the left trackpad button with my index finger and the right button with my thumb. Once this torturous feat of finger-yoga has been achieved, I am able to resize the window with a finger from my right hand on the trackpad.
Ooh, looks like there is a patch for this attached to bug #437910.
Yeah, I think this is a dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 437910 ***
