Description towsonu2003 2007-04-18 20:38:47 UTC
GIMP (at least in this system) defaults to 80% quality when saving JPGs. If you want to change that setting, you need to File>Save As> and adjust quality per image as you edit them.

If you forget, it will save your image automatically with more compression than you want.

I would really like to be able to change this default setting using a new option-box thru File>Preferences>Tool Options>JPG Save Quality so that I don't need to fiddle with "Save As" every time I need to save the pictures from my camera with as little compression as possible.

Other information:
I am using gimp 2.2.11 on an up-to-date Ubuntu 6.06.1
