Description Jason Brower 2007-04-10 14:24:58 UTC
It would be nice to export my RAW to other formats. I don't think it is your fault, but the libraries you work with. But I think the bug should start here.
Right now I don't have a way to quickly do it. I ed up having to convert them all with gimp than import them again as new files in f-spot then export them to a stand alone gallery. Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
I am using edgy.

Hi Jason,

What do you mean with 'exporting doesn't work' ? You can export raw images out of f-spot, either with drag'n drop or with 'Export to folder > files only'.

What's the purpose of creating an html gallery out of raw images ? does your browser can display them ?
Comment 2 Jason Brower 2007-07-31 15:09:39 UTC
I always felt the term export as something like the following:
The originally file stays the same no matter what during an export, but the destination has a different file that is out puted.
Proper exporting depends on what you want. If I want to export my raw images to an html page layout it should be able to do that properly. Currently f-spot gives an error, with no options or work around shown, that is hard for a basic user to understand. (I know because my wife freaked out.)
Solution?
Create a auto export feature that exports in to a format that is intended.
    or
Create a dialog that tells you that all images must be turned into jpg or compatible image time. (Which is dumb. I do it now and it is very annoying to load 300 raw images in gimp, waiting 7 seconds on each, and just press cntrl-shift-S to save as and save it as a jpg. COME ON!)

On a similar note... isn't F-spot supposed to be the program that organizes your originals?

Bug 590150 will fix this.

Hello

I am having the same problem, I have been using Gimp 2.8 for a while now with no problems, then i upgraded from Mavericks to El Capitan and now gimp will not work at all, I have tried exporting to every file format on gimp but nothing ever shows up on my desktop where i want it saved or exported, i am unable to save or export to any file format. I then deleted the gimp program and tried to download the latest version only to find that the .dmg file will not complete the download. it gets to 99% and then crashes my browser this has happend 5 times now so i have no way to download the program or use it or anything. This is seriousley annoying as i need this program to do my art but i am unable to even download the program as it just chrashes my Google Chrome browser
What has happend to gimp it worked perfectly before, i was able to export to png jpg and all other formats but as soon as i upgraed to El capitan the program stopped working with NO WAY to export or save ANY file.
The program does not give me any errors and it says that the file has been exported but no file ever shows up on my desktop and now i can not even download the program to reinstall as the .dmg file just chrashes my browser no matter what browser i use. Chrome Firefox or Safari.
I now have no Program to use and can not reinstall as there is something wrong with the dmg file.
Your help service is also the most confusing help i have ever come across, and reporting bugs is almost impossible as Gimp does not show up anywhere even when i search for it.
Very Very unhappy that Gimp does not work with El capitan at all and that i am unable to even download the .dmg file from the gimp website without it crashing my browser.
