Description Andrew Jorgensen 2007-03-23 20:36:57 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When calling an echo test or getting voice-mail on another call Ekiga loses the first second or so of the message. So, for instance, if the message says "You are about to enter an echo test" you will only hear "... about to enter an echo test".

Steps to reproduce:
1. Call an echo test server, such as sip:echo@sipphone.com
2. Listen for the message.

Actual results:
Loses a second or so of audio at the beginning.

Expected results:
Should hear the whole message.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

We know it already : the fact is that the echo test server begins to send the audio *before* it confirmed which codec it was going to use.

I don't know if the problem was fixed/hacked around :-/

Found the old bug number : it's fixed :-)

Just to be sure, what version was this fixed in? Based on the way it was fixed I'd say there's a good chance the bug can still exhibit itself if one last 180 Ringing is received as the audio starts to come in.

I noticed that with the GizmoProject client I sometimes hear one last ring mixed with the start of the received audio. That's probably also a bug but I'm guessing they use 180 Ringing in the same way you do, only they mix the audio rather than exclude it. The best case scenario would be for received audio to exclude other audio probably.

See comment #2 from bug #345765, pointed to by bug #365609, which is the number I gave when closing this bug. The date is 2006-11-27, so it must have been fixed in 2.0.4, released 2007-01-21, since 2.0.3 was released the 2006-10-09.

Great! I'll re-test at some point and re-open if I find there's still a problem. Thanks!
