Please describe the problem:
If file names exceed a certain length, they are automatically truncated
to the allowed length, which is perfectly OK.

However, in this process, the extension of those files gets lost. This
should not happen!

The file should be truncated to length-ext_length and the extension
should be readded to the resulting file name
