Description Maciej Stachowiak 2001-09-10 00:38:27 UTC
You must use the mouse, since it only works through drag and drop.

------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2000-08-07 09:21:27 ----

I'm asking Arlo to look over all these and make a proposal for each about how to
make the given operation keyboardable and also to propose a cut for which ones
are required for 1.0.

Some of these would be trivial to implement and thus could be part of the
"usable" milestone, but after looking at them I'm not sure that all would be.

John points out that some of these are perhaps just bugs, since you are supposed
to be able to use Tab to move the keyboard focus and Spacebar to activate
controls in the toolbar for example.

------- Additional Comments From arlo@workthatmouse.com 2000-08-07 11:32:54 ----

I don't think there's a need to do this with the keyboard... but will look into
this a bit more later today.

Comment 1 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-05-13 15:05:29 UTC
I think this is still relevant. Louie et al, what is you opinion on
this since technically nautilus should be completely keynavable, but
this feature at least seems to be used very rarely.
Comment 2 Luis Villa 2002-05-13 15:30:13 UTC
Dave has a patch for this; I'm not sure what the status is, though.
Comment 3 Calum Benson 2002-07-17 10:28:42 UTC
dave: ping?

Adding keywords. These patches are in sun_patches, I believe?
Comment 6 Calum Benson 2002-08-30 11:07:54 UTC
Yes, this is in sun-patches. Now all we need is a similar mechanism
for applying emblems :)

the sun-patch
Comment 8 Dave Camp 2002-09-17 15:07:47 UTC
Alex (rightfully) didn't like the UI that this patch presents. It can
be a bit weird, since there are now two dialogs that are very similar
but act differently.
Comment 9 Calum Benson 2002-10-22 16:59:15 UTC
As far as I can see, the sun-patch doesn't allow you to add/remove
emblems using the keyboard... at least, not the twice I've tested it
(Sun build 5 and build 10). Or am I missing something...?
Comment 10 Calum Benson 2002-10-22 17:00:22 UTC
Woops, I take that back, the Emblems tab in the file Properties dialog
is indeed keynavigable with the latest sun-patch.
Comment 11 Luis Villa 2002-12-02 22:57:04 UTC
Can we close this then?
Comment 12 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-12-02 23:39:50 UTC
no it is still a bug in the community release. Perhaps background
stuff can be integrated into a folders property window.

Updating status_whiteboard field to reflect A11Y team's assessment
of accessibility impact.

REmoving GNOMEVER2.0 tag

bug list :)

the sun-patch

Marking this needswork/obsolete since it has been rejected.
Comment 20 Calum Benson 2004-09-28 16:17:17 UTC
Anyone still looking at this? It's one of the few parts of our core desktop
that remains completely inaccessible from the keyboard.
Comment 21 Calum Benson 2004-10-21 16:43:21 UTC
Apologies for spam-- ensuring Sun a11y team are cc'ed on all current a11y bugs.
Filter on "SUN A11Y SPAM" to ignore.
Comment 22 Christian Neumair 2005-05-27 13:25:38 UTC
Alex, Dave: Do you think the background color & pattern selector could be
integrated into the property dialog? Then, we could use a radio button to denote
the currently used background.
Comment 23 Luis Villa 2005-07-10 04:21:12 UTC
Fixing priority; this should not have been enhancement all this time.
Comment 24 Calum Benson 2006-04-26 17:14:47 UTC
Apologies for spam... ensuring Sun a11y folks are cc'ed on all current accessibility bugs.
Comment 25 Allan Day 2010-06-22 12:56:13 UTC
Changing component as part of ongoing bug reorganisation.
Comment 26 Cosimo Cecchi 2010-08-02 11:27:09 UTC
'Backgrounds and Emblems' have now been removed from nautilus master, see [1]. Closing this as OBSOLETE.
