What were you doing when the application crashed?
I switch to previous picture in EOG (in fullscreen mode)

NOTE:
The only way I've found to switch out of EOG is to switch to a terminal (CRT+ALT+F1), log-in and kill EOG.
Switching to another application (with ALT+TAB shortcut for example) is not possible when EOG is freezed in fullscreen mode, then we HAVE to switch out of X, and kill the process.

This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade.
