GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 41790
Want command to cause removable-media check
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Bug 41063 describes the desired desktop context menu. This bug report is about creating and adding to the Desktop's menu the command to update the removable-media icons on the desktop ("Check for removable media"). Presumably if we can get it working well enough we wouldn't need this at all, because the icons would always be kept in synch automatically a la Macintosh. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2000-07-27 09:18:42 ---- While it's not clear whether we need this explicit command (doesn't Gene's existing code already auto-detect?), it's not something we will defer. We'll either decide that the design works without this command or add the command. ------- Additional Comments From gzr@eazel.com 2000-07-27 10:28:26 ---- I'll evaluate this fine bug. ------- Additional Comments From gzr@eazel.com 2000-08-01 10:09:35 ---- I have evaluated the bug and the original estimate was too short. We do need this command for some types or removable media like floppies. It would also be good to handle all type of removable media as well. This is a good safeguard as we don't know for sure what the automounter can handle yet. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-16 19:34:01 ---- Batch-assigning QA ownership of remaining bugs to eli@eazel.com ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-12-27 14:10:40 ---- Rubber-stamping as Verified/FIXEd. Gene's resolution works without adding an additional command. (Specifically, the 'Disks' submenu lists the types of removable media available. Newly inserted media is checked when the user selects the drive type from the menu.) --- Sullivan, if this isn't an acceptable resolution UI-wise, please re-open. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-12-27 14:13:55 ---- Doh. I forgot that Arlo has a Desktop UI spec, so the implementation might also be relevant to him. ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-01-02 08:37:19 ---- This UI could no doubt be improved, but doing so doesn't fit under the scope of this bug. We should leave this verified and bring up additional issues in the future under new bug reports. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 20:33 -------
