GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 416873
opening cd/dvd-drive via contextmenu in 'computer'-view of nautilus dont work when theres no media in drive
Last modified: 2008-01-12 11:15:22 UTC
it would ne very usefull for me if i could open my drives with the contextmenu (right-klick on drive and choose eject) in nautilus even if theres no media in. just like "eject /dev/dvd" in terminal Other information: there are gconf-entrys for gnome-volume-manager where i can define what to do for unmount and for eject ... maybe nautilus can handle its behavior with such keys in gconf?
This was also reported to the Debian BTS by Marcus Lundblad: http://bugs.debian.org/431486 If you go to "Computer" and right click on a DVD drive and select "Eject", an error dialog pops up informing you that there is no media in the drive (the same as if trying to mount an empty drive). It should be possible to eject (just as running eject /dev/cdrom in a terminal). Also it would be nice the "Mount" option was greyed out when there is no media available.
update: in gnome 2.18 the behavior is the same as described in my original report
This looks like a dup of bug #401689.
