can you provide a screenshot here?
Comment 2 roger 2007-03-13 08:18:46 UTC
I don't have any "notes" that I could send you as I keep some private stuff within them.

I suppose I could create a contact with some jottings, but trust me, for some reason, I think it stops printing the entire notes section if it requires a second page or more to print.

Thanks for the screen shot.

Glad it's just not me. ;-)

Even more interesting, select a range of contacts and print them all. It seems like the printing is limited to one page.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select a number of contacts (more than 10 to be sure it's > 1 page)
2. Right click and press Print
3. Press Print Preview
4. Observe that there's only one page and not all contacts fit in that page

Right. I don't know printing multiple contacts and cutting them to fit the paper layout is a feature or not.

In the past, Evolution would print entire contact fields.

Every year, I like to make a hard copy of my Contacts and use the notes section frequently.

Just for reference, I'm seeing the following masked packages for my Gentoo distro:
gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-1.10.*
mail-client/evolution-2.10.*

I don't know if my two bugs are fixed within these major version updates.
Comment 7 Øystein Gisnås 2007-04-21 19:52:51 UTC
It's not fixed in 2.10.1.

This could be quite low-hanging fruit, as one probably only need to make the text flow onto multiple pages.

Still in 3.2.3
Comment 9 roger 2012-06-17 01:04:27 UTC
I reported this bug so long ago.

I've also, long ago, switched to Mutt (ASCII/Text/NCurses EMail Client) and ABook (ASCII/Text/NCurses Contact Manager).

Ever since my switch, I have always been able to print or view anything anyway, using command line print filters or other methods.

And, I have yet to have a failure viewing anything because the program failed to start. Even if a program failed to start, I can simply use cat/vim to view the email/contact.

For archiving, I just tarball the folder.

GUI stuff has it's reliability issues. Especially when the text data is maintained within a database.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
