GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 41663
Arrange Icons feature for desktop
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Since autolayout is history for the desktop, there is no way to arrange the icons in a sane manner (for instance, down the side of the screen). Every OS that I can think of has some feature along these lines. Without such a feature it would be very easy for your desktop to get very cluttered. ------- Additional Comments From kenny@whitecape.org 2000-07-14 12:50:01 ---- I agree with Josh here - you need to be able to organize your icons *somehow*, although I'm not sure automatic layout is the best way. I'd like to see a "Snap to Grid" feature in Nautilus, perhaps as an item in the popup menu to either organize it (one time only) or automatically snap items to the grid. That way you have manual layout, where you can move your icons around however you would like, but you can still organize them. Thoughts? ------- Additional Comments From snickell@stanford.edu 2000-07-14 14:07:17 ---- Its definitely possible to get a desktop cluttered and messy enough that you'd just like to have it totally sorted. And since it should be fairly easy to add.... :-) ------- Additional Comments From arlo@workthatmouse.com 2000-07-14 20:24:28 ---- *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 41671 *** ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-16 20:11:36 ---- Batch-assigning QA ownership of remaining bugs to eli@eazel.com ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-01-01 19:28:58 ---- Verified duplicate. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 20:33 ------- The original reporter (linuxfan@ionet.net) of this bug does not have an account here.
