GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 415699
Incorrect identity is chosen for the mail composer when forwarding an e-mail
Last modified: 2012-08-14 13:43:48 UTC
Please describe the problem: When a user have multiple identities configured (mail accounts - whether such are configured for receiving mail or just as alternative addresses), then when an e-mail is received that is addressed (either in "To" or "Cc") to a non-default identity, then when replying to such an e-mail, the mail composer is automatically choosing the correct identity to reply "From". On the other hand, when such an e-mail is forwarded (whether in-line or attached), then the mail composer ignores the fact that the e-mail was sent to a non-default identity and leaves the default "From" address selected. This can cause a lot of grievance when an e-mail is accidentally forwarded from an incorrect identity. Steps to reproduce: 1. Make sure multiple e-mail accounts are setup with different e-mail addresses. 2. Send yourself an email to one of the non-default accounts. 3. When the email is received, try to forward it. Actual results: The mail composer has the default account selected as the "From" address Expected results: The mail composer should select the alternative account that received the message as the "From" address. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
Bumping version to a stable release.
Confirming. Bug is still present in the new composer.
cann't reproduce in Evolution 3.2.0 Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 3.0.3 or 3.2.0 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field? Thanks a lot.
This is still an issue with Evolution 3.2.0 (which I think also means its not resolved in 3.0.3, which I didn't test). Setup: 1. Create IMAP (or other receiving) account. 2. Create a non-receiving account (i.e. incoming server set to "None") with a different email address that is aliased to email address of the first account, 3. Send yourself an email to the second account and view it on the inbox of the first account. 4. Choose Message->Reply (any reply type will do) and check the "From" header in the mail composer window that comes up: it should have the second account's identity selected. This works fine. 5. Choose Message->Forward and check the "From" header in the mail composer window that comes up: it should have the second account's identity selected. This doesn't work - the identity selected is always the owner of the inbox, unless the "forward as" type selected is "redirect".
