What were you doing when the application crashed? I'm using gThumb to browse a directory and after I unplugged an USB mobile harddrive (already umounted), gThumb crashed. I can't remember if I was browsing a directory on the mobile harddrive, seemed not. This is fixed in 2.8.x and 2.9.x, available at http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gthumb/2.8/ and http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gthumb/2.9/.
