Description hushicho 2007-02-21 22:49:24 UTC
This has happened several times so far while using Gimp. I downloaded the latest version, installed it, was working fine with scanned images and had no problems whatsoever. Then I tried to create a new file, and it crashed. I thought perhaps it was just a little bug that happened through coincidence, but every subsequent time I tried to create a new file, the same thing happened. It refuses to create new files without crashing.

Platform is Win XP Professional. This happens regardless of what else is running at the time, regardless of any specifications made on the advanced options, and whenever a completely new file is created. Paste as New doesn't have the same problems, but creating a new file is impossible.

Please check if this is bug #314529.

Not exactly the same, no, but it was solved by uninstalling GIMP, uninstalling the current GTK, deleting the directory and all its contents entirely, and then installing the recommended one from http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html#gtk .
