Description Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2007-02-19 03:57:24 UTC
use SSL should change port number in the account window.
default is 5222. I checking "use SSL" it should be changed to 5223. And vice versa. Unless a custom port is being used.

It took me a will to figure out why it was not working when setting up my Google Talk account.

Hi Hubert, thanks.

This is a Telepathy issue. If you compile Gossip with --enable-telepathy, it uses a different widget for the account settings in the accounts dialog, and that clearly needs some love.

Marking as Telepathy and gnome-love.
Comment 2 Xavier Claessens 2007-02-19 13:32:16 UTC
Not exactly, when connecting to a jabber account using telepathy it uses the same widget than with normal gossip. The problem here is related to bug #379154
Comment 3 Martyn Russell 2007-02-19 13:54:28 UTC
Ah ok, perhaps we should mark it as dependent then.
Comment 4 Mikael Hallendal 2007-05-30 18:59:07 UTC
Thanks for the bug report.

As announced [1] yesterday we have decided to remove the Telepathy backend and go back to our initial goal of becoming a Jabber/XMPP client.

As this bug is related to the Telepathy backend we will close it as obsolete as the code will no longer live in our code repository. If you want to continue to use a Telepathy client we suggest you take a look at the Gossip fork Empathy [2].
