GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 408960
Localised applet names don't displayed in full
Last modified: 2007-02-17 16:40:25 UTC
Please describe the problem: In the new control-center when the localized names of the applets are quite big, they excessive characters are not displayed, but are replaced by dots. This makes the names of the control-center applets hard to recognize. I think that long name strings should warp in two rows, so that bigger strings can be displayed in full. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set gnome to use a localized environment, ex Greek 2. Open the control-panel Actual results: When the names of the applets are bigger that the currently specified length that can be displayed, the excessive characters are not displayed and are replaced by dots (...) Expected results: The big applet names should wrap into two rows of text, just like the default nautilus file naming behavior. Does this happen every time? Yes, when using the Greek locale (and possibly other locales that use big localized applet names) Other information: The cut off applet names make the applets very hard to recognise. The only way to figure out that they do is: a) waiting to see the tooltip explanation or b) by guessing their functionality from the icon that they use
