Ian wants to do this, and he's working on a design.

It's problematic, because it would be way better to have a good GNOME VFS API,
but it could mean more work to get Nautilus working with it. Best case we do
this and it saves us work on Nautilus.

What's required here is either completing this work or deciding that we're not
doing it for Nautilus 1.0.

Ian has agreed to either complete the implementation of this (for non-WebDAV
modules and for WebDAV) or decide not to do it for Nautilus 1.0, by the May 31
deadline.

Ian decided not to do this for Nautilus 1.0 although he still wants to work on
getting the design right.
