GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 40725
RPM view should grok remote rpms
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
This could be difficult given the limitations of librpm. There's a FIXME about this. ------- Additional Comments From ramiro@fateware.com 2000-05-02 06:55:22 ---- One day, may31, assigned. ------- Additional Comments From ramiro@fateware.com 2000-05-31 08:40:38 ---- A few things have changed in this component. It seems to work fine in redhat 6.2 now. I think part of the motivation for this bug was by passing the weird fdOpen() api in librpm and using gnome-vfs instead. ------- Additional Comments From ramiro@fateware.com 2000-05-31 09:42:17 ---- Currently the rpm view can only handle local files. It would be nice if it had support for viewing remote rpms somehow. Marking deffered. ------- Additional Comments From robey-bugs@lag.net 2000-08-28 17:57:54 ---- one possibility: download the first 512 bytes or so via gnome-vfs, then stick it into a pipe and import the pipe's read fd into librpm's bogus-fd, and let it read the header that way. rpm headers tend to be 256 bytes or less. ------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-09-08 15:27:09 ---- Setting all bugs to P6 to start official bug-prioritization plan. Please don't set the priority to anything other than P6 unless you've got the gold seal of approval for doing so. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2000-10-16 19:40:15 ---- Batch-assigning QA ownership of remaining bugs to eli@eazel.com ------- Additional Comments From eskil@eskil.dk 2001-02-28 20:13:46 ---- Assigning to component owner for now, 564 should eventually end on Ians' plate and 725 will most likely end on mine... Have fun arik :) ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:18 -------
Since there is no package view, and won't be for the foreseeable future, I'm closing these.
