Description Martin 2007-02-08 01:18:54 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, I've got the network manager applet (nm-applet) that stores its passphrases in the keyring. On every startup the user is asked for the keyring password. Since this applet runs permanently, it's pretty uncomfortable for the user to be asked for the keyring password everytime the applet sees a new known wireless network. I'm not sure if this is really a bug, but it's pretty annoying to be asked for the keyring-password all the time.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on a Computer with a wireless network device
2. Have a wireless network in range
3. Boot the system

Actual results:
The user is asked for the keyring password after startup.

Expected results:
I would expect, the nm-applet or the keyring-manager could be configured to exchange the keys without asking the user.

Does this happen every time?
Yes. Everytime the nm-applet sees any known wireless network.

Hi,

This is not an gnome-keyring-manager issue. The gnome keyring need to be unlocked with your password.

Give a try to pam-keyring, I've packaged it so it should be in feisty now.
