GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 405452
Podcast Resume Feature
Last modified: 2010-02-19 08:23:11 UTC
It would be handy if the podcast plugin remembered where I stopped listening to a podcast and allowed me to resume play from that point even if I close the program or go listen to some songs and then return to the podcast. I'd like the plugin to remember the resume location on multiple podcasts at a time.
This is incredibly similar to the functionality (bookmarking) that you requested in #405449. While it requires a little more work on your part, that means it only does what you want, too, as opposed to a more automated plugin that guesses for you. I think this bug should be closed as a duplicate.
The resume activity would be more akin to what people would expect from the use of iPods and other featureful DAPs. Besides, managing this under bookmarks would become rather tedious. It would be several bookmarks I'd use once and then have to remember to get rid of or they'd clutter things up. Bookmarks are useful to keep track of the discussion on X in podcast episode Y that I'd like to refer back to. The resume is good for keep track of how much of the podcast episode I've listened to thus far. It would also be rather difficult to give a name to it that would mean anything succinctly. I'd like to request the implementation of both for the sake of UI goodness, but I'll of course take whatever Mike codes up :-)
I'll put this on my todo list.

Closing as a dupe of a newer bug because it also mentions audio books and videos. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 610021 ***
