GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 403971
crash entering txn: tree model filter iter conversion
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:25:22 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? Enering in a transaction in a liabilities category. GnuCash correctly guessed the completion of my partial entry in the description category. I pressed tab to get GnuCash to complete the description entry. GnuCash became unresponsive after that. Entered transaction was for 01/01/2007...just in case the date rollover is relevant to bug. tree model filter iter conversion...
Please install the packages "gnucash-debuginfo" and "gtk+2-debuginfo", then try to reproduce this crash and send us the (more verbose) stack trace. (duplicate of bug#364946) Also, did you have accessibility enabled (might be called assistive input techniques or similar)? Does this crash still occur if you disable this?
Installed gnucash-debuginfo. Installed gtk2 debuginfo (same as gtk+2? Or wrong package?). Crash has only occurred once, even with identical trasaction. Tried a couple of other similar transactions with no crash. Accessibility is not turned on to my knowledge. I can try some test transactions if you like.
Thanks for reporting this problem (duplicate of bug#364946; same issue also in bug#405228). This is a serious issue which we would like to fix, but unfortunately none of us developers has been able to reproduce the crash in a reliable way (i.e. every time). If you are interested in helping: Is there a sequence of keystrokes / mouseclicks that will lead to this crash *every time*? Also, the question of accessibility seems to play an important role here.
Sorry - the crash has occurred once and only once - even with the identical transaction being entered (after crash I restarted GnuCash and performed the same transaction). I've tried a couple other similar transactions with no problems. I am running GnuCash under KDE. I do not have any accessibility options enabled to my knowledge (its pretty much a default configuration). I would like to help - especially since I have the debuginfo packages installed now - but I think I need some guidance into what type of actions to try - since I haven't been able to duplicate the bug on my own yet.
Only had the problem once and I have been using gnucash for more than one year. I did install the gnucash debug reporting stuff so if it happens again...

The main bug#364946 now has an easy testcase to reproduce it, so this bug will be closed as a duplicate of the other one, which in turn will hopefully be fixed soon. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 364946 ***
