Description Sami Olmari 2007-01-29 08:24:30 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When I use disjointed monitors, first monitor notification area works, but second monitor does not.

When I remove first monitor applet and later add it again, it won't work either.

For example Gaim debug shows that tray-icon is created when applet is enabled in that particular screen Gaim is running, but no icon ever shows. Also if I remove that applet and the nstart Gaim, debug says icon not added, so it means when applet is running it not working as should.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have 2 (or more) monitors setupped as disjointed screens.
2. Run some program on second screen that produces an systray icon, not coming.
3. Run same program on first screen and icon shows.
4. Remove notification applet from first monitor and then add it again.
5. Now running an program doesn't generate any icon to notification area.

Actual results:
No systray icon show up in notification area on screen program is ran.

Expected results:
An systray icon to show up in notification area on screen the program is ran.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
Old thread describes it also good: http://gnomesupport.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7543

That is the startsituation when you have just enable second screen as disjointed. At any time you add notification area applet to second screen, it doesn't do anything. And also when you ever remove the notification area from first screen and add it later it doesn't show any icons, even when programs debug says icon drawed.

This is how _some_ tray icons comes to screen 0

While some tray icons do not appear at all, some icons appears like in this image. Those boxes are movable and resizeable. Also launcing for example RythmBox on seconds screen I get no icon anywhere, but launching it on first screen there comes this box.

If I disconnect my second monitor and restart X (control-alt-backspace), notification area applet magically works again. So it is definately related to disjointed screens.
