I discovered the problem was related to me having dvd::rip up and running. When it's running I get the crash. When it's not running I don't get the crash. Also, other movie playing apps would give me an error about it couldn't get the output console. Unfortunately I currently don't have the time right now to install the debug packages and recreate the errors. I find the time I'll come back and update.
