GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 400616
Menues with mixed languages (app/run_dia.sh)
Last modified: 2007-03-28 02:01:06 UTC
Please describe the problem: Both entries in Main menu are in english but clicking in "File", some spanish words appear: "Nuevo", "Abrir" Diagram menu contains all enlish entries except for "Edit" which is changed with "Editar" Steps to reproduce: 1.Locale settings must be es (spanish) 2.Untar, configure, and make for dia-0.96-pre3 3.Run app/run_dia.sh Actual results: Just what I wrote Expected results: Menues in spanish (except for untranslated items according to .po files) Does this happen every time? yes Other information: This problem does not occur with dia-0.95.1. (Regular call or from installation directory with app/run_dia.sh. This problem does occur with dia-0.96-pre1 and dia-0.96-pre3 (with app/run_dia.sh)
As mentioned on the list, seems a random selection of menus are not translated. The translations are there, though.
I dont think the selection is random. Instead apparently stuff from the gtk-translation-domain seems to be translated. But not stuff from Dia's domain. I'm starting to begin understanding how to solve this but it will additionaly require updating all .po files. BTW: this is another thing already mentioned in bug #340352
2007-01-28 Hans Breuer <hans@breuer.org> * app/recent_files.c : don't treat underscores in filenames as accelerators, see bug #340352 * app/menus.c : again register a translation function for menus/actions. This fixes the code part of bug #400616 Every translation needs to be updated to translate 'verbs' instead of complete menu pathes po/* 2007-01-28 Hans Breuer <hans@breuer.org> * de.po : iteration on removing fuzzyness from menus * *.po : 'make update-po'; as a result most translations contain more fuzzyness. Especially menu translations need to change because now single verbs without slash need to be translated instead of the former complete menu path. Also removed the executable flag from many .po files. Bumping priority even more cause fuzzy translation possibly screw the c-format string which could crash. Another open issue: apparently app/run_dia.sh does not pick the fresh translation from the build directory but instead uses the one from the installed version.
Just updated almost all translations needing changes, so it is probably safe to close this bug, except if we really want to make it work for the app/run_dia.sh case mentioned above. 2007-01-28 Hans Breuer <hans@breuer.org> * be.po bg.po cs.po da.po el.po en_CA.po fr.po ga.po gl.po gu.po hr.po id.po it.po ko.po mn.po ne.po nl.po nn.po pl.po pt.po pt_BR.po ro.po rw.po sk.po sl.po sq.po sr.po sr@Latn.po sv.po tr.po uk.po zh_CN.po zh_TW.po : programmatically solved the translation part of bug #400616 as far as pattern matching was enough to review, i.e. no knowledge of the language at hand was required BTW: we have more translations than changed but apparently some of our translator are running 'make update-po' before committing their changes.
Bug is fixed in version 0.96; even when calling Dia with app/run_dia.sh (I use spanish)
