Description jason fuchs 2007-01-22 22:10:49 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I have a mass storage DAP that only supports WMA and MP3 playback. I have added the .is_audio_device file to the device, and inside that file, define that it can only play WMA and MP3. After loading the device, it's recognized by Banshee as a DAP, and in the device properties, is correctly reported as only supporting those 2 formats. If I copy an OGG file to the device, I would assume, it should use this information to know that the device cannot play an ogg file, and would transcode it to MP3? This does not happen, it copies the ogg straight across. I've also changed the devices transcoding options to use LAME, with the same result.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Setup WMA/MP3 DAP to interface with HAL/Banshee
2. Transfer non-supported file type to device
3. Notice that the file was not transcoded to a supported format

Actual results:
The file is directly copied to the device without transcoding to supported format.

Expected results:
File would be transcoded.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
Using Banshee 11.4 built from source, on Archlinux. Lame and transcode are installed.
