im sorry to complain - rhythmbox development is awesome. however - it is painful to have sooo much space taken up by a position slider, songtitle etc. 

especially when it could so easily fit between the "browse" button and the volume button...wouldnt this be a simple glade change??

Yep, there's already bug #389170 which mentions some new ideas for addressing this.
