If you enable writing to the iPod, you can also add tracks to playlists on the iPod. Rhythmbox shows these changes, but when the iPod is ejected, the playlist is not changed on the iPod; when it is reconnected, the change no longer shows in rhythmbox.

This is really already part of the patches on bug #310774.
