Description Jonh Wendell 2006-12-25 22:25:04 UTC
Bug report opened in Ubuntu (http://launchpad.net/bugs/75554)

Tried connecting to an SSID configured as "* we like baseball *"

NetworkManager applet (nm-applet) in Gnome fails to properly connect and get a DHCP address. However, naming it something without asterisks works fine. And iwconfig is able to associate properly. So, it appears that the problem lies in network-manager-gnome or one of it's libraries...

While not a 1 to 1 dupe, this should be fixed by handling SSIDs as byte arrays, so marking as dupe of 399292 with some more analysis.
