GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 389574
Unable to connect to SSID containing asterisks (*)
Last modified: 2007-12-29 20:18:16 UTC
Bug report opened in Ubuntu (http://launchpad.net/bugs/75554) Tried connecting to an SSID configured as "* we like baseball *" NetworkManager applet (nm-applet) in Gnome fails to properly connect and get a DHCP address. However, naming it something without asterisks works fine. And iwconfig is able to associate properly. So, it appears that the problem lies in network-manager-gnome or one of it's libraries... $ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=6.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=edgy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 6.10" -- Kristian Hermansen
While not a 1 to 1 dupe, this should be fixed by handling SSIDs as byte arrays, so marking as dupe of 399292 with some more analysis. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 399292 ***
