GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 387819
ekiga does not automatically start, when gnome is started
Last modified: 2007-05-11 18:06:57 UTC
I would love to see ekiga automatically start, whenever gnome starts. With skype and gaim this is the case. If I start them once and don't quit them, they are automatically loaded next time I start gnome. If I quit them, they won't be loaded next time, until I start them manually again. This would be nice with ekiga, so I do not have to manually start ekiga everytime I start the computer. It should be already there. Please feel free to ask for details on this behaviour.
I have triple-checked this on 3 different machines and it works. If you ask GNOME to save the session, then Ekiga is automatically started when the GNOME session is restarted. However, GNOME programs have nothing special to do to be added to the session or not. It is automatic and managed by the GNOME Session Manager. At worse, you hit a GnomeSession bug. Please make sure the session is really saved when you quit (the gnome session manager should ask you if the session has to be saved or not, or it should be configured in the session settings) Reassigning to the gnome session component, but I really doubt there is a bug there.
Also, you can add ekiga to the list of startup programs if you want. Marking as NEEDINFO, waiting for clarifications.
Hej, I did as Damien suggested, please note bug 397378 and 397376. automatically save settings is not activated by default in Ubuntu 6.10. Please let me know, how I can help on this. How about a VNC session? Best, Florian
Florian: so ekiga now automatically starts, but crashes. Am I understanding well? If yes, then there's no bug in gnome-session and the bugs you opened against ekiga are enough.
