Description George Kraft IV 2006-12-16 06:15:22 UTC
Per the GNOME Summit in Boston (2006), the GNOME Accessibility team decided to move the AT selection to Preferred Applications. See bug 350263. The Assitive Technology Preferences dialog can be used for other settings besides which AT is to be used.

Here is a proposed prototype to change the gnome-at-properties dialog. The user will now select ATs from the Preferred Applications dialog per 350263.

prototype 20070116

This is a prototype to remove the AT selection checkbuttons and to add a push button for gnome-default-applications-properties.
Comment 4 Joachim Noreiko 2007-02-07 17:55:24 UTC
The 'Preferences' button doesn't seem very clear. The user is already looking at a preferences window.
I'd suggest either
- 'Open Preferred Applications...', similar to the button in the Keyboard preferences
- label text that conveys the actions, such as 'Choose Applications...', with an ellipsis as it opens something else.

release candidate 20070413 for GNOME 2.19

I received some feedback that gnome-at-properties was too sparse after moving the AT selection to Preferred Applications. In addition to launching the Preferred Applications dialog for accessibility, I have added the launching of the Accessible Keyboard and Accessible Login dialogs. Here is a screen shot.
