GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 386404
crashed opening fat32 disk icon after viewing contents of trash
Last modified: 2006-12-16 10:54:59 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) Package: nautilus Severity: critical Version: GNOME2.14.3 2.14.x Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: crashed opening disk icon Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: Desktop Bugzilla-Version: 2.14.x BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.14.1) Description: Description of the crash: I started gnome, clicked on my 'sharing' volume (a fat 32 volume I use between win2k and ubuntu) and nautilus just crashed with an error message which disappeared quickly when bug buddy appeared. The only recent change on my system was the addition of xubuntu-desktop, which has 'stolen' my previous gdm settings -- I get a different splash screen. But I select 'sessions, GNOME' to get into ubuntu. Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. Open Trash to look (I have 50 items in there). 2. Close trash 3. open fat32 volume. Boom. If I just open the fat32 volume without opening trash, its fine, I can browse normally. But close, then look at trash, then close trash, then open fat32 volume and boom. How often does this happen? now, six times in a now without exception. Additional Information: Opening NTFS volume does not cause crash. Only fat32... very odd. Not looking at trash makes looking at vfat volume safe. Trash contains 3 copies of my drive_c.desktop file (.wine) a few old linux .iso images screenshots, pngs, pdfs, some .zip_FILES AHA!!! also contains 2 directories. When I click 'Empty Trash' it complains Error: cannot delete because it doesn't have permissions to the parent folder. Okay, I have deleted everything in ~/.Trash I rebooted Linux Fresh boot into gnome, open trash (its now empty), then open fat32 volume -- nautilus still crashes. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".
