GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 383953
The inbox summary shown in the panel should show new mail before the total
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:49:34 UTC
Forwarding from a downstream feature request: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=218801 Description of problem: The inbox summary shown in the panel should show new mail before the total. In fact, I can't think of any reason to not always show the amount of new mail (if any) before the total, no matter which mailbox one currently has selected. If all that can be seen is that summary, unless one is actively using Evolution, knowing if you have new mail is far more useful than knowing how many messages any particular mailbox contains (actually, why would one ever need to know that if not directly interacting with Evolution?). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-2.8.0-15.el5 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Evolution 2. Go to any mailbox (INBOX is probably easiest) 3. Minimize evolution Actual results: It tells you the total number of messages before telling you the number new, which means you can't see the number new in many cases, due to minimal space for the mailbox name and message numbers. Expected results: Tell me the number new. I don't care how many messages I have total, unless I'm actually directly interacting with Evolution. Additional info:
Created attachment 78003 [details] [review] Proposed patch I thought this was a good idea and it was an easy change. I also put the unread count first in the folder properties dialog, just to be consistent.
Created attachment 78022 [details] [review] Revised patch This revision also puts the selected message count first, for consistency.
Please commit.
Committed to Subversion trunk (revision 33396).
