GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 383928
Bad command name: "Remove transaction splits"
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:18:19 UTC
When you are on a splitted tnx and you put the cursor in one of the splits, selecting in the menu Transaction -> Remove transaction splits presents a dialog where the text should be more accurate: it says: "Remove the splits from this transaction?", and imho shoud say: "Remove all the splits from this transaction?", i.e. adding the word "all" for better understanding.
Equally, the preceeding menu item should say "Delete transaction or split", because when you invoke it from a split of a txn it actually deletes the corresponding split, not the whole txn.

This issue is the body of bug #542537. Let's keep this bug specific to the "Remove Transaction Splits" menu item. I agree the wording is confusing. Unfortunately your alternative wording is not really accurate either. Your other bug (bug #343236) gets to the heart of the issue: the "Remove Transaction Splits" really removes all splits except for the split in the current account. We should find some wording the clearly and concisely conveys this. Christian's "Remove other splits" (from bug #343236) comes closest for now.
I like "remove other splits". Can we go with that one?
"Remove Other Splits" it will be. Fixed in r23019. This change won't be backported to 2.4 because it alters translatable strings.
Thank you.
